Discover Earlscliffe Easter

Earlscliffe is a UNESCO School located in the charming coastal town of Folkestone, just 54 minutes from London and a short walk from the beach and town centre.

Whether your child is preparing for the summer term, getting ready for a new school or simply looking for an international experience during the Easter holidays, the programme combines purposeful learning with plenty of opportunities to explore, create and have fun.

About The Programme

Students are grouped by age and English level, with separate programmes for Juniors aged 8–12 and Seniors aged 13–17.

Morning lessons focus on English language development across speaking, listening, reading and writing. With no more than 12 students in a class, teachers can support students at the right level and encourage everyone to take part.

In the afternoon, students put their English into practice through creative projects including drama, music, film, and arts and crafts. Older and more advanced students may also explore international issues through discussion and debate, giving them opportunities to think critically, communicate their ideas and hear different points of view.

English Language – Easter Course

Social Programme

Every evening brings something different. Welcome Games, House Nights, Taskmaster, Bowling, games night, Murder Mystery, Junkbox Challenge, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo, Easter Egg Hunt and Leavers’ Disco. It’s a chance to relax after a busy day, spend time with friends and enjoy being part of the Earlscliffe community.

Because the programme takes place in spring, the activity programme includes a greater mix of indoor activities and excursions than our summer programmes.

As part of their experience, students will enjoy excursions designed to complement their academic journey with cultural exploration. These outings offer a well-balanced opportunity to engage with iconic British destinations, providing both stimulating and restorative experiences outside the classroom.

Excursions are subject to change based on the week attended.

Optional Extras

If you’re looking to stretch and challenge your English Language ability this Easter, our students have the option to take advantage of our extra learning options.

For an additional weekly cost students can enjoy an extra 4 hours of English in small group lessons or extra 4 hours of English in a one-to-one setting.

Earlscliffe Easter School Accommodation and Meals

The eight Victorian and Edwardian buildings on the Earlscliffe campus have been renovated to provide comfortable residential and learning spaces. Located in Folkestone’s West End, Earlscliffe is within walking distance of the beach and the Leas promenade. The town center, with its shops and high-speed train link to London St Pancras, is also nearby.

Earlscliffe offers students quality student residences. Girls and boys live in separate, supervised accommodations. Rooms are mostly twin with a few select single or triple rooms and all have en-suite WC and showers. The ‘in-town’ campus means that students can walk between their classes, to meals, accommodation, and activities with ease.

Meals are held in the dining room. We offer a varied menu with a mixture of British and international cuisine. Dietary requirements can be catered to upon special request in advance of your course.

Discover Our Oxford Summer Camp

Camp Headington is a welcoming international community where students are encouraged to be curious, try new things and take on challenges together. From their first day, students join an expedition team, make new friends and become part of camp life. Across two action-packed weeks, they build confidence and independence through shared adventures, team challenges and memorable experiences in and beyond Oxford.

Learning at Camp Headington is hands-on, active and built around discovery. Each day starts with a big question before students investigate, experiment, build and test their ideas through practical STEM challenges. They might launch rockets, investigate extreme weather, explore forensic science, design racing machines or discover how nature can inspire new inventions. English is used naturally throughout these experiences as students solve problems, share ideas and work together.

A day structured around Explore, Examine, Experiment and Summit

Every day is carefully structured to spark curiosity, build confidence and create lasting memories, opening with ‘Basecamp’ where the whole camp comes together to prepare for the adventure ahead.

    Explore

    Every morning begins with a big question linked to the day’s theme. Students investigate topics such as the environment, engineering, or meteorology through engaging lessons, discussion and practical activities that encourage curiosity from the very start.

    Examine

    Students dig deeper through enquiry and investigation. Working in groups, they analyse evidence, solve problems and develop ideas together, using English naturally as they discuss, question and collaborate.

Immersive Learning Experience

Learning at Camp Headington starts with a challenge. Each themed day introduces a big question before students investigate ideas, experiment and put what they discover into action. From extreme weather and renewable energy to rockets, forensic science and engineering, hands-on STEM activities encourage students to be curious, solve problems and learn by doing.

English is used naturally throughout the experience as students investigate, build, test, discuss and work together. Rather than studying English as a separate subject, students develop their communication through practical challenges and shared adventures with an international group of students.

Beyond the Classroom

    A New Challenge Every Day!

    No two days at Camp Headington are the same. Students might investigate a zombie outbreak, discover how nature inspires inventions, launch rockets, solve a forensic mystery or build and race their own machine. Each theme combines investigation, experimentation and practical challenges to make STEM active, creative and fun.

    Adventure Beyond the Classroom

    Camp Headington takes learning outdoors. Students take on experiences including raft building, bushcraft, climbing and high ropes, alongside excursions in Oxford and London. From working together on the water to exploring science beyond campus, adventure is part of the programme rather than an optional extra.

Every Outdoor Adventurer day begins with a question — and the excursions are where students go looking for the answers. What they investigate in the classroom, they test in the real world: in London’s great museums, and out at an outdoor activity centre near Oxford where the challenge is physical as well as scientific. Ages 10–14, in supervised groups, with staff alongside them throughout.

 

 

  • London Science Museum

    A day inside one of London's most famous museums. Students explore space, engineering and medicine through hands-on galleries and real objects, connecting what they learn at SBC to the discoveries that shaped the modern world.

    Oxford Outdoor Adventure Day

    A day outdoors taking on high ropes and climbing. Students go at their own pace, supported by their group – designed to develop confidence that only comes from doing something new.

    Raftbuilding Challenge

    Students work in teams to design and build a raft from the materials they're given. Planning, problem-solving and plenty of laughing — with a real result at the end.

    Outdoor Laser Adventure

    Step into a real-life outdoor game. Set in a large woodland site filled with vehicles, buildings and movie-style props, students work in teams to take on missions and outdoor laser gaming challenges. They’ll need to move quickly, plan with their team and adapt as each game unfolds. With no paint and no previous experience needed, it’s an action-packed half-day that brings the excitement of gaming into the outdoors.

Accommodation

At Camp Headington, students live in purpose-built accommodation with single, twin and dorm rooms and shared bathroom facilities. Everyone has their own space to store their belongings.

Staff are available in the accommodation throughout the day and night to provide pastoral support. Each house hosts a communal area where students can play and relax together.

Headington Prep School

Camp Headington takes place at Headington Prep School in Headington, Oxford. The campus provides a welcoming base for camp life, with teaching spaces, sports and activity facilities and outdoor areas for students to learn, play and spend time together. Its Oxford location also gives students opportunities to explore the city and take part in experiences beyond the campus.

Camp Headington FAQs

Students are supported by our pastoral team throughout their stay. Houseparents provide day-to-day care and are a familiar point of contact for students, supported by the wider Camp Headington management team. Staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their roles, and trained first aiders are available on site. Families also have a dedicated point of contact before and during the programme if they have any questions or concerns.

We understand that families will want to stay in touch during the programme. Before the summer, we will share information about the best times and ways to contact your child, together with contact details for the Camp Headington team if you need further support.

Yes. Our transfer service varies across our different campus locations. Information on our transfer service can be found here.

Camp Headington is based at Headington Rye Prep School in Headington, Oxford. The campus provides a welcoming base for students, with learning, activity and outdoor spaces for camp life. Its location also gives students opportunities to explore Oxford and take part in experiences beyond the campus.

We know that sometimes parents/guardians will want to visit their child while they are at Camp Headington, so we ask that you arrange this via your dedicated Admissions Manager with at least 24 hours’ notice. Where possible we want to make sure that students don’t miss too much of their exciting Summer School day so your Admissions Manager will be able to advise you on the best time to visit.

Copperfield International Camp

Seamless Transfers and Accessibility

We’ve made sure that every student’s journey to Camp Copperfield is stress-free. Transfers from Geneva Airport are included in the camp fees, ensuring a smooth start to the Camp Copperfield experience. Our campus is also fully accessible, with ramps and accommodations available for disabled students, including skiers. Shared rooms are carefully assigned to promote language diversity, ensuring students have the opportunity to form meaningful connections across cultures.

Accommodation: Comfort and Community

At Camp Copperfield, we pride ourselves on providing a safe and comfortable living environment. Students will stay in our traditional alpine chalets, which accommodates up to 35 students in shared rooms of two to three students per room. Boys and girls will stay in separate wings of the house, ensuring privacy and security. A few single rooms are available upon request for those who prefer more personal space. Our boarding facility fosters a sense of community, with shared spaces designed for social interaction and relaxation after a day of learning and adventure.

Located in the seaside town of Folkestone, Kent—just 54 minutes from London—Earlscliffe is an independent sixth form college during the year and transforms into a vibrant international summer school in partnership with SBC and Dukes Education.

Part of our College Pathways this programme offers students the chance to explore academic subjects in depth while enjoying a lively summer school experience. With 20 hours of lessons each week, courses are enriched by collaborative and communicative project work that mirrors real-world contexts. A varied social programme, excursions, and evening events bring students together, creating opportunities for friendships and fun beyond their studies.

Spring courses are also available for students aged 8–17.

At Earlscliffe, students learn about the world while developing the English they need to communicate their own ideas. Multi-Activity & Social Programme

Afternoons bring a change of pace, with sport, creative workshops, beach activities and opportunities to explore the local area. Students might try paddleboarding, join a drama session, play team sports or spend time exploring Folkestone and its coastline.

Evenings bring the whole school together for activities including bowling, karaoke, games night, the Junkbox Challenge and Earlscliffe’s Got Talent. House Nights offer a more relaxed evening with smaller groups. Together, these events give students time to relax, socialise and enjoy being part of the Earlscliffe community.

Earlscliffe Summer School Accommodation and Meals

The eight Victorian and Edwardian buildings on the Earlscliffe campus have been renovated to provide comfortable residential and learning spaces. Located in Folkestone’s West End, Earlscliffe is within walking distance of the beach and the Leas promenade. The town center, with its shops and high-speed train link to London St Pancras, is also nearby.

Earlscliffe offers students quality student residences. Girls and boys live in separate, supervised accommodations. Rooms are mostly twin with a few select single or triple rooms and all have en-suite WC and showers. The ‘in-town’ campus means that students can walk between their classes, to meals, accommodation, and activities with ease.

Meals are held in the dining room. We offer a varied menu with a mixture of British and international cuisine. Dietary requirements can be catered to upon special request in advance of your course.

Just 15 minutes from London Heathrow and a short walk from the royal town of Windsor, Eton College offers a truly iconic setting for an unforgettable summer. Explore Eton & Windsor

With Eton and Windsor just a short walk away, students have the chance to explore these historic towns in small groups on certain afternoons each week – whether it’s discovering Windsor Castle, strolling by the River Thames, or picking up souvenirs with friends in Windsor Town Centre. One of the highlights of the summer is the final celebration at Dorney Lake, the iconic venue that hosted the rowing events during the London 2012 Olympics. Students kick off the afternoon with an exciting Bell Boating session on the lake before enjoying a BBQ and ending the night dancing with new friends at the farewell disco – a perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable summer!

Time to Shine

At the end of each week, students come together for Time to Shine, a chance to share their projects with teachers and peers. It’s a fun and rewarding way to celebrate everything they’ve learned in the week, whilst also building confidence in teamwork and public speaking. Whether speaking in front of a group for the first time or refining presentation skills, it’s a great opportunity to feel proud of their achievements, and discover what other students have been working on in other subjects, too.

Support & Welfare

The safety and well-being of students is our number one priority. We have a comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures in place to which all employees, volunteers, visitors, and contractors are obligated to adhere to.

All staff are given the tools through their extensive training to guarantee that all students feel safe, secure, valued and respected whilst studying with SBC. Students are accommodated in secure and comfortable boarding houses, which are managed by a dedicated team of residential staff. Our staff teams are always available to provide high-quality pastoral support and remain on call 24 hours per day.

Free Time & Supervision

During some off-site activities, students aged 12 and over are permitted ‘free time’ where they can independently explore a designated area in groups of at least three, for a set amount of time. Students must have consent from their parents/guardians to be allowed unsupervised free time.

All students will be given an SBC Gold Card which they must carry with them when off-site. Gold Cards have details of the emergency number to call in the event of a student becoming separated from their group.

We listen to student feedback and value student-led projects, which help us to ensure each summer is even better than the last.

    Explore the heart of British government through fieldwork around Westminster. Students investigate Parliament, law, protest, leadership and the different ways people can influence society before seeing London from a different perspective on the London Eye.

    Explore the historic charm of Eton, visit the magnificent Windsor Castle, and enjoy some time spent browsing the shops and cafes along Windsor's bustling high street.

Eton College features a blend of buildings that date back to 1441, rich in history. The boarding houses serve as the heart of the experience, fostering our student communities. Students are housed in two separate boarding houses, one for boys and one for girls, each offering single rooms with shared bathrooms.

Eton College traditionally retains a boys-only boarding tradition, however at SBC at Eton College Summer School we are proudly a co-educational summer school in which both girls and boys attend classes and the activities programme together.

To submit your reservation for SBC at Eton College Summer School, select the “Enrol” option in the top right corner of our home page and complete the booking form there.

As soon as possible, your dedicated Admissions Manager will get in touch with you via your preferred form of contact to finalise any final details. Before a deposit is paid, this will be the ideal time to ask any queries.

Your booking will be officially confirmed once your data is verified and you receive a booking confirmation email.

Your admissions manager sends a confirmation of your reservation along with an invoice and a flywire payment link.
