Engineering

Summer Boarding Courses’ Engineering programmes are the ideal courses for students who wish to pursue an Engineering discipline as a career or at university. They provide in-depth introductions to the theory of engineering which is applied in fields of innovation, design and construction. Our Engineering students analyse technical aspects of engineering, such as in the construction of bridges, buildings, electronic circuits and mechanical design, as well as the social impact of engineering, such as in how engineering is used to tackle environmental, urban and logistical issues.

Broadened his perspectives

One of the best summers for our son. The quality of the programme and the activities were perfect. In addition, the international diversity allowed our son to broaden his perspectives and make friends from all over the world.

LEARNING ENGLISH THROUGH Engineering

Summer Boarding Courses’ Engineering programmes are designed to teach the English language through studying Engineering. In these courses, English language and Engineering tuition are integrated together, so that knowledge of both subjects is improved at the same time.

Our Engineering programmes have the following four objectives:

  • Content: Improving the knowledge of Engineering
  • Communication: Studying through a communicative and collaborative approach to learning, with the aim of improving English language proficiency
  • Cognition: All courses at SBC focus on developing 21st Century Skills, such as critical thinking skills, collaborative skills and presentation skills.
  • Culture: All courses include the cross-cultural benefits of studying in a multi-national environment

TIME TO SHINE

In our Engineering Time to Shine project lessons, students are presented with teamwork challenges to design such engineering feats as stable bridges, high towers, working windmills and self-propelled miniature vehicles like cars and airplanes. Through taking part in these fun, communicative and collaborative challenges, students will learn about fundamental engineering principles.
