Develop your English through sport and performance
QPR Pro Football Experience is a two-week English-language programme for students interested in the connection between academic learning and sporting performance. Students explore accessible themes from sports science, psychology, leadership, teamwork and personal performance.
Delivered in partnership with QPR, the programme combines classroom learning with active and collaborative experiences. Students use English throughout to discuss performance, analyse ideas, work within teams and reflect on their own development.
- Develop English through sport, performance and leadership
- Explore sports science and psychology through accessible activities
- Build teamwork, communication and personal confidence
What you'll study
The thinking behind sporting performance
QPR Pro Football Experience explores some of the factors that contribute to performance on and off the field while developing the English needed to discuss ideas, evaluate experiences and communicate within a team.
-
Module 01
Sports Science & Performance
Explore accessible ideas about the body, training, recovery and performance, developing vocabulary for discussing how physical preparation can influence sporting activity.
-
Module 02
Psychology & Mindset
Consider themes such as motivation, confidence, concentration and responding to challenge, discussing how psychological factors can influence both individual and team performance.
-
Module 03
Leadership & Teamwork
Explore how communication, leadership and collaboration can influence a team. Students practise giving instructions, responding to others and reflecting on different approaches to working together.
The signature experience
Think like a scholar. Perform like a team.
Students work collaboratively on a sport- or performance-themed challenge, applying ideas from across the programme and considering how evidence, communication and teamwork can contribute to their response.
At Time to Shine, students share what they have explored through a presentation or team challenge, using English to explain their thinking and reflect on the process.
- Collaborative sport and performance challenge
- Communication and presentation practice in English
