Think Global! at Earlscliffe
Earlscliffe | Ages 13 – 17
Looking to boost your world language skills whilst learning to be a responsible global citizen?
This course drives language development by encouraging its learners to adopt “the values, attitudes and behaviours that support responsible global citizenship” (UNESCO)
Think Global! is designed not only to maximise your language development but to do this through using UNESCO’s ‘Four pillars of learning’: learning to know; learning to do; learning to be and learning to live together.
Earlscliffe’s Think Global! programme is truly ‘global’ in all senses of the word.
Discover what unique qualities create a UNESCO School at Earlscliffe by joining Think Global! Not far from the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover, Earlscliffe Summer School is located in the charismatic English coastal town of Folkestone.
Students will develop in key areas through a series of skills-based workshops, lectures, independent learning, and study tours.
During the course, students will practise and improve their writing by constructing an academic essay on a topic of their choice, to help put into practice the skills that they have developed.
You will get to enhance your team-working by doing research projects in small groups with fellow students from all around the world.
Think Global is a course which will motivate students with its global themes and will excite and extend all abilities.
From looking at climate change to the rights of child refugees, Think Global is a highly relevant course which is drawn up from topics in which students are familiar with, including: the role of an influencer, healthy lifestyles, discussing the impact of celebrities, and the potential impact of the plant-based diet.
This course is fantastic for young learners who are inquisitive and would excel at the challenge of developing their language skills via an alternative and less traditional path.

When a student arrives, an SBC staff member wearing a bright yellow t-shirt will be waiting to greet her/him and accompany them to our Welcome Club. At our Airport Welcome Club, she/he will have the chance to meet other students arriving, have some light refreshments and relax. After a little rest, students will be accompanied by students and SBC staff to board the coach and be taken directly to the school in a private coach.
The Shared Transfer Service can be used by students using the following flight and train times:
Flight lands on arrival day: 06:00-17:00

The times outlined above also apply to students arriving and departing from Kings Cross St. Pancras train station.
If you book a flight outside of these times or to/from another UK airport, we can look at sending a staff member in a taxi to collect or drop off your child, but it will cost more than the Shared Transfer Service. Quotes are available upon request.
If you book a train or flight outside of these times or from another London airport, please contact your Admissions Manager for a private taxi quote. Please note this will cost more than our Shared Transfer Service from Heathrow, Kings Cross St. Pancras (& Gatwick for Earlscliffe students)
Important:
Flights must be booked on the arrival and departure dates so that all students can arrive and depart the course at the correct times.
Think Global is a dynamic programme designed to challenge students. However, if students are finding it a little too hard, then the teacher can modify it so that every student feels involved in the class. At SBC we take great pride in delivering a Think Global course which delivers for a broad range of ability levels.
A A2 level is required at a minimum to fully benefit from the Think Global programme.
To mark the end of the program each student receives a certificate of completion.
Throughout each course, our mentors give students their own materials.
Students should come with their own pens to class, but don’t need to worry about folders and notebooks.
Despite the fact that prereading is not necessary to participate in the course, it would benefit students to perhaps review what they have learned this year to feel even more confident with their English, but only if they feel it is necessary.
My daughter has gone alone and has met people from other countries with whom she maintains contact after the campus, she has enjoyed class and wants to repeat next summer.
Boost your English whilst being introduced to the wider world of global citizenship. To secure your spot this summer complete the form below and our supportive admissions team will take care of the rest.
