General English

Our General English Summer School is the perfect programme for students to develop their English language skills in a dynamic and immersive learning environment. These programmes are designed to build communication, teamwork and creativity skills, with the objective of improving our students’ understanding of English and their confidence in using it in everyday situations. Our student-centred lessons are developed by our own academic team with decades of EFL experience.

Our English Language summer courses are developed to support students at every language level. We offer courses to help students from complete beginners, through to advanced learners. Each course is designed to enable students to meet their academic goals.

Tremendous development in their English

Our children have attended the summer boarding courses for two consecutive years and we (parents) have witnessed a tremendous development in their English command and, more importantly, their confidence and happiness to experience the program again. It is a very satisfying and rewarding adventure for children willing to improve their language abilities and meet different cultures.

LEARNING 21st CENTURY SKILLS THROUGH ENGLISH

Across all of our General English programmes, our aim is to develop not only English language skills, but also transferable skills that will help our students to prepare for future academic and career success in the 21st century. Each week our courses have a bespoke Time to Shine research and presentation project, which encourages students to develop the following skills:

Communication Skills: all students will develop their ability to communicate effectively with their peers, use a variety of communication forms and learn to work collaboratively as part of a team

Expert Thinking & Innovation Skills: Through carefully selected research projects, students will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, and have the opportunity to devise and act on creative ideas to form their presentations.

Life and Career Skills: These research projects will enable students to develop their information literacy skills by extending their own investigations and using their initiative, assuming greater control over their own learning. By working together on projects, students will also nurture their sense of social and cross-cultural awareness.

TIME TO SHINE

Today, giving great presentations is a vital skill for achieving academic and professional success. Our General English programmes reflect this by having the art of giving presentations at the heart of its Time to Shine programme. By learning how to develop and deliver their presentations in a supportive and collaborative environment, our students will discover in themselves new confidence in using English in public situations.
