We’re very excited to announce that one of our Oxford College Summer School students has been accepted to take part in a three-year programme with Youth and Science programme. This fun and demanding programme aims to encourage and support the scientific vocations of young people in the region and give them the chance to experience scientific research for themselves. The programme covers different areas of science, including biodiversity, genetics and computer science.
Founded in 2008 by the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, this three-year programme gives 4th year school students the opportunity to work with international scientists to produce their own research papers and take part in an international research team. In order to apply to the programme, students had to have a good academic record and be able to demonstrate a commitment to studying science by intending to study the Scientific or Technological Baccalaureate, as well as having a good level of English. To win a place, each student had to defend a scientific case, receive recommendation letters from their teachers and pass an interview on Science in English. Over 800 students from around the region applied to programme but only 50 were chosen to take part.
Mar, who is passionate about maths and physics, was the only candidate chosen from her school. She has been a students with Summer Boarding Courses for the past two years. We’re extremely proud of our high achieving students, so we would like to say a big well done to Mar and we hope she has an amazing experience!
