Becoming an Innovative Entrepreneur
The Faculty of Business gives you a clear introduction to the fundamentals of enterprise. Across two weeks you’ll explore entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and management, building the knowledge and confidence to approach business with a strategic mindset.
The course develops practical understanding of how businesses plan and grow. You’ll learn the principles of market analysis, financial forecasting and business planning, applying them to scenarios where clear thinking and quick decisions matter.
Learning is hands-on. You’ll take part in simulations, workshops and case studies that reflect the challenges faced by professionals in fast-changing markets. These activities strengthen your ability to problem-solve, make decisions and present ideas persuasively.
Collaboration is central to the programme. You’ll work in groups to design projects, pitch ideas and respond to challenges, while also learning from experienced mentors who share insight from their own careers.

Fieldwork takes learning beyond the classroom and into the city. Course Objectives
This course is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of key business concepts, from management and leadership to marketing and finance. By the end of the programme, you will have the skills to analyse business challenges, develop strategic plans, and communicate your ideas effectively in a professional setting. This course is perfect for those with ambitions in business, entrepreneurship, or management roles across various industries.
Module 1: Strategic Management and Leadership
This module introduces you to the core principles of management and leadership. You’ll explore different leadership styles, organisational structures, and strategic decision-making processes. Through interactive workshops and case studies, you will learn how to lead teams, make informed decisions, and navigate the challenges of managing a business in a competitive environment.
Module 2: Digital Marketing and Brand Strategy
In this module, you’ll dive into the world of digital marketing, focusing on how businesses can effectively engage with their target audience in the digital age. Topics include brand development, consumer Behaviour, and the use of digital tools for marketing. Module 3: Financial Analysis and Business Planning
This module covers the essentials of finance and business planning. You will learn how to analyse financial statements, develop budgets, and create business plans that align with strategic goals. Time to Shine gives every student the chance to practise public speaking in a structured setting. By researching, preparing and delivering a project to an audience, you build confidence in expressing ideas clearly and develop the ability to present with authority. It’s an opportunity to refine communication skills that are valuable for academic study, professional life and beyond.
For your Time to Shine project, you will develop and present a business idea that addresses a real-world need. This project challenges you to apply what you’ve learned about planning, finance and marketing, while demonstrating creativity and strategic thinking.

Do I need prior knowledge of business or economics to join the programme?
No previous experience is required. The programme is open to all students with an interest in business, management, or entrepreneurship.
What resources or equipment should I bring?
All workshop and project resources are provided. You should bring standard study items such as pens, notebooks, and a laptop or tablet for project work and presentations.
Will I work on real-world business projects?
Yes. The programme includes case studies, business simulations, and team projects that reflect the challenges faced by business leaders today.
Will I receive formal recognition for completing the course?
Yes. Students are awarded a Certificate of Achievement and may request a personalised Letter of Reference to support university or career applications.
How Challenging is Business at Cambridge?
Although the course offers a high level of challenge, our teachers can vary the degree of difficulty depending on the group’s overall proficiency. At SBC we do all we can to provide inclusive learning.
What level of English is required to study Business at Cambridge College?
For this course, participants should have a level of B1 to gain the maximum benefits of the course. Before the summer, your Admissions Manager will send your child(ren) an online placement test to complete. This will help us to ensure that this course is suitable for your child to participate in and benefit from.
Do students need to purchase any course book materials?
A variety of SBC handouts are given to the students; which are all produced by our academic staff.
Does Business at Cambridge involve any required reading?
Although precourse reading is not necessary in order to participate in the course, it would benefit students to continue improving their English in order to feel more at ease if necessary.
