Global Leadership
The Faculty of Global Leadership prepares you to navigate the complexities of international relations, diplomacy, and governance. This programme is designed for students who want to explore how decisions are made on a global scale and how leaders shape the world around them. Through case studies, simulations, and collaborative projects, you’ll develop the insight and skills to take on leadership roles in a connected world.
Global Leadership
The Global Leadership pathway at Earlscliffe focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to guide teams, shape policy and respond to international challenges. Over two weeks you’ll study leadership theory alongside practical exercises that place you in the role of decision-maker.
The course introduces you to diplomacy, negotiation and global governance. You’ll explore how leaders operate in political, economic and social contexts, and examine the impact of their choices on communities and nations.
Practical work includes simulations of international summits, role-play negotiations and group decision-making exercises. These sessions develop your ability to analyse problems quickly, build consensus and present strategies with clarity.
Teamwork is central. You’ll work with peers on projects that demand collaboration across cultures and perspectives, reflecting the realities of leadership in global settings.

Our Approach to Your Learning
In Global Leadership at Earlscliffe, our approach combines theory with practice to prepare you for decision-making on an international stage. You will engage in seminars, simulations and role-play exercises that reflect the realities of diplomacy and negotiation. Case studies encourage you to analyse complex global issues, while leadership workshops help you build the skills to communicate and guide others effectively. Course Modules and Objectives
This course is designed to develop your understanding of leadership in an international context. By the end of the programme, you will have gained the skills to analyse global issues, practise negotiation and diplomacy, and design strategies for effective decision-making. This course is ideal for students interested in careers in politics, international relations, public policy, or related fields.
Module 1: Foundations of Global Leadership
This module introduces the core principles of leadership in an international context. You will study leadership theory, explore historical and contemporary examples, and examine the qualities that define effective leaders. Through guided discussions and short case studies, you will learn how leadership decisions shape communities, nations and global organisations.
Module 2: Diplomacy and International Relations
In this module you will focus on diplomacy, negotiation and the structures that govern international cooperation. You will explore topics such as conflict resolution, global governance and the role of international organisations. Practical activities, including role-play simulations of negotiations and summits, allow you to apply concepts in realistic scenarios while developing communication and problem-solving skills.
Module 3: Policy, Strategy and Decision-Making
This module examines how leaders design and deliver strategies to respond to global issues. You will analyse case studies covering areas such as climate change, public health and international security, then work in groups to draft your own policy proposals. Presenting these strategies to peers helps you practise articulating ideas clearly and builds confidence in public speaking and decision-making.

Master Public Speaking & Presenting
Time to Shine gives every student the chance to practise public speaking in a structured setting. By researching, preparing and delivering a project to an audience, you build confidence in expressing ideas clearly and develop the ability to present with authority. It’s an opportunity to refine communication skills that are valuable for academic study, professional life and beyond.
For your Time to Shine project, you will take on the role of a policymaker, presenting a plan to address a pressing global issue. This project challenges you to combine research, diplomacy and leadership, while demonstrating how ideas can be translated into action.

Do I need prior knowledge of politics or international relations to join the Global Leadership programme?
No. The course is open to all students with an interest in leadership, global affairs, and diplomacy.
What resources or equipment should I bring?
All core materials are provided. You only need pens, notebooks, and optionally a laptop or tablet for research and group projects.
Will I take part in practical leadership activities?
Yes. The programme includes simulations such as negotiations, policy-making exercises, and collaborative projects that reflect real-world leadership challenges.
Do I receive recognition after completing the programme?
Yes. Students receive a Certificate of Achievement, and you may also request a personalised Letter of Reference to support university or career applications.
What level of English is required for Global Leadership?
To get the most out of this course, a level of B1 or higher is necessary.
Is there any pre-reading before the start of the course?
Despite the fact that there is no pre reading necessary for any of our programs, it would be helpful for students to continue improving their English in order to feel more prepared.
