Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow

The Faculty of Global Leadership introduces you to the challenges and responsibilities of leading in an interconnected world. Across two weeks you’ll explore international relations, global economics and leadership theory while developing the practical skills to apply them.

A Vibrant Start to the Week at Oxford College

The course covers diplomacy, policy and cross-cultural communication, giving you an understanding of how global systems work and how leaders shape them. Case studies and strategy exercises help you examine complex issues and practise making decisions with international consequences.

Learning is active. You’ll take part in model United Nations sessions, negotiation exercises and leadership workshops that recreate real-world scenarios. These experiences build confidence in speaking, persuading and guiding diverse groups under pressure.

Working with peers from around the world is central. You’ll share perspectives, compare experiences and collaborate on solutions, building cultural awareness alongside leadership skills.

Studying at the Faculty of Global Leadership prepares you for roles where international understanding matters. Whether in government, international organisations or business, the programme equips you with the insight and skills to operate confidently on a global stage.

In the Faculty of Global Leadership, we aim to inspire the next generation of global leaders and policymakers. Our approach to learning is interdisciplinary, blending the study of politics, international relations, and economics. Course Modules & Objectives

By the end of this course, you will have a deep understanding of political systems, international relations theories, and economic principles. You will develop the analytical skills necessary to evaluate global issues, craft policy recommendations, and lead effectively in diverse environments. This course is ideal for students interested in pursuing careers in politics, diplomacy, international organisations, or leadership roles in any field.

Module 1: Foundations of Political Theory and Governance

This module provides an introduction to the key concepts and ideologies in political theory. You will explore various forms of government, the role of institutions, and the impact of political ideologies on policy-making. Through case studies and group discussions, you will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of different political systems and their implications for governance.

Module 2: International Relations and Global Diplomacy

Delve into the world of international relations with a focus on diplomacy and global conflict resolution. This module covers the major theories of international relations, the role of international organisations, and the dynamics of global power. You will examine case studies of diplomatic negotiations, explore the causes of global conflicts, and discuss the strategies used by nations to maintain peace and security.

Module 3: Economics and Public Policy

This module explores the intersection of economics and politics, focusing on how economic principles influence public policy. You will study topics such as economic growth, fiscal policy, and international trade. Through policy analysis exercises, you will learn how economic theories are applied in the real world to address issues like inequality, unemployment, and global development.

Experience the world of politics and international relations first-hand through our industry experience sessions. You will have the opportunity to visit a governmental organisation, think tank, or international NGO, where you can observe policy-making processes, engage with professionals, and gain insights into the practical aspects of leadership and diplomacy.

Academic Coaching

Certificate of Achievement & Reference Letter

You will receive a Certificate of Achievement, recognising the skills and knowledge gained during your studies. Master Public Speaking & Presenting

Time to Shine gives every student the chance to practise public speaking in a structured setting. By researching, preparing and delivering a project to an audience, you build confidence in expressing ideas clearly and develop the ability to present with authority. It’s an opportunity to refine communication skills that are valuable for academic study, professional life and beyond.

For your Time to Shine project, you will take on a global challenge and present a strategy for addressing it. This project draws together your knowledge of international relations, policy and leadership, while giving you the chance to speak with authority on issues that matter.

Take your seat at the summit table. Act as a delegate addressing urgent global issues, presenting strategies and solutions with authority and conviction.

The Policy Manifesto
Deliver a manifesto that sets out your vision for tackling urgent world challenges. Take the stage, present your proposals, and speak as if you are addressing nations at a critical moment.

Interdisciplinary Grand Challenge
Form interdisciplinary teams to confront complex global problems. Climate migration, pandemics, AI ethics: issues too big for one discipline alone. Work together, combine perspectives, and present joint solutions at the Oxford Global Solutions Forum.

The Forum Presentation
Collaborate across Business, Medicine, Law and Global Leadership. Each student contributes expertise from their subject to shape a unified response. Take the floor as a team, explain your shared plan, and deliver it as though addressing a gathering of world leaders.

Do I need prior experience in politics or international relations to join?

No previous study is required. The programme is open to all students with an interest in leadership, diplomacy, or global affairs.

What resources or materials should I bring?

All necessary resources are provided. You’ll only need basic study supplies such as pens, notebooks, and optionally a laptop or tablet for research and group work.

Will the programme include practical leadership activities?

Yes. You’ll take part in simulations such as diplomatic negotiations, policy-making exercises, and collaborative projects that reflect real-world challenges.

Will I receive recognition for completing the programme?

Yes. You’ll be awarded a Certificate of Achievement and may request a personalised Letter of Reference to support your academic or career progression.

Is Faculty of Global Leadership at Oxford College a challenging programme?

The course offers a high level of challenge, but depending on the group’s level of English and ability to work with new information, the teacher can vary the level of challenge. At SBC we do our utmost to provide an inclusive learning environment.

What level of English is required to take part in the programme?

To participate in this course, you must have a level of at least B1.
