SUMMER BOARDING COURSES
Sports, Celebration and Adaptation at Headington
It’s been a busy and upbeat weekend at Headington, where our older students have shown their usual enthusiasm across sport, creativity and evening socials.
The changeable Oxford weather meant some adjustments to the original plans, but the students took it all in stride. When football and tennis had to be moved indoors, our team transformed the sports hall into a lively arena of activity. Students played Futsal, basketball, and badminton in a fast-paced series of friendly matches. The atmosphere was full of positive energy, with sneakers squeaking on the court and teams cheering each other on throughout.
In quieter moments, some students made friendship bracelets—a calming, social activity that gave them time to chat and wind down between sports. The relaxed vibe carried into the rest of the afternoon as students chose how to spend their time, with options including film watching, origami, and swimming. That balance between physical activity and reflective, creative time was appreciated by many.
Wellbeing activities continued indoors as the weather shifted, with animal-themed yoga giving students a space to stretch and breathe while engaging with the day’s nature-based theme. Dance sessions followed, filled with movement inspired by animals—light-hearted, inclusive, and a good chance for everyone to let loose.
Artistic flair came through in the making of animal wreaths, and students also explored natural environments through “nature windows”—a creative lesson where they represented ecosystems in small diorama-style frames. These activities offered more than just craft time; they encouraged discussion and sparked interest in environmental themes, helping students connect with nature from indoors.
One of the highlights of the weekend came on Saturday evening, when students gathered for a garden party and disco. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful as they danced, laughed, and posed with photo props. It was clear they were making the most of the time with new friends from around the world, sharing in moments that will likely stay with them beyond camp.
Back inside on Sunday evening, the marble rollercoaster challenge brought more excitement. Students teamed up to build creative tracks and tested their engineering ideas in a friendly competition. There were plenty of cheers as the marbles made it through loops, turns, and the occasional unexpected launch.
Even with the changeable skies, the energy on campus has stayed positive and focused. Students continue to build strong connections, show independence, and make the most of every opportunity. Whether through sport, creativity, or shared laughter, the Headington community has come together in exactly the way we hoped it would.
