Celebrating Confidence, Connection and Goodbyes in Oxford

As the final week at Oxford College unfolded, there was a real sense of purpose and celebration in the air. The weather remained bright and warm, offering a perfect backdrop for what turned out to be some of the most memorable moments of the summer so far.

The atmosphere on campus was both reflective and upbeat. With final preparations underway, students focused their energy on completing their “Time to Shine” projects. These presentations were the culmination of their academic efforts, and the results were genuinely impressive. Each student stood before the school and delivered their work with clarity and confidence. What stood out most was not only the quality of the content but the ease with which they addressed such a large audience. The courage and composure they showed were truly inspiring. It was a reminder of just how much they have grown over the past few weeks—not only in their academic abilities but in their confidence too.

After their presentations, students gathered once again to receive their certificates from tutors. These were meaningful moments, marked by warm exchanges and personal reflections. Tutors took the time to share kind words about their groups, highlighting their hard work, enthusiasm, and the bonds they had formed as a team. These speeches captured the spirit of the programme—focused on progress, collaboration and shared achievement.

The rest of the day had a celebratory tone. With time to spare before the evening’s events, students headed into town for some final souvenirs—trinkets from Oxford to remind them of their summer here and gifts to take home to family. There was a lightness in these moments: laughter on the high street, photos in front of favourite spots, and quiet reflection as students prepared to say goodbye to a place that had become their temporary home.

As evening arrived, students changed into their best outfits for the final garden party and dinner. The college gardens provided a beautiful setting for this gathering. Friends shared stories from the last few weeks, snapped photos together, and enjoyed the chance to simply be in each other’s company one last time.

But it was the boat party that truly stood out—a perfect send-off and, for many, the highlight of their time at Oxford. Students boarded an open-top boat and set off down the river, music playing and spirits high. The boat was full of energy as everyone danced and laughed, waving to onlookers on the banks and soaking up the evening views. There was something special in the way they came together—students from all over the world, now united in friendship and shared experience. The joy on their faces said it all.

To all our students this summer: thank you. You’ve brought so much to this programme—your ideas, your enthusiasm, and your kindness to one another. We hope your experience here has been as meaningful to you as it has been to us. We would love nothing more than to see many of you again next year.
