As we reached the final days of the SBC summer at Oxford College, there was a noticeable mix of celebration and reflection among students. The atmosphere on campus remained upbeat and warm, with many taking time to enjoy each other’s company and reminisce about their shared experiences. Despite it being late in the season, the weather stayed bright and pleasant, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the final activities both indoors and outdoors.
Academically, the week concluded with our Time To Shine presentations—always a highlight of the summer. Students took to the assembly hall stage to present the projects they’ve been developing, showcasing the ideas, research and skills they’ve worked on across the two weeks. It was a moment of pride for many, with classmates cheering each other on and celebrating the effort and thought behind every presentation. This final session not only wrapped up their academic journey but also gave students the chance to share their voices and insights with their peers, gaining confidence along the way.
In the lead-up to this grand finale, students also enjoyed a variety of activities that supported creativity and community. One evening featured a lively Talent Showcase, where students entertained each other with singing, dance, and even a few magic tricks. Alongside that, quieter but equally engaging options were on offer—bookbinding workshops, creative writing sessions, football matches and group reading circles. These moments provided space for both self-expression and simple enjoyment, and brought together students of different backgrounds and interests, giving everyone a chance to contribute in their own way.
The final evening was marked by Graduation Night, a true highlight and a chance for everyone to come together one last time in style. Held at the elegant Oxford Boathouse, with views over the river, the evening began with students arriving in formal dress for a three-course meal. It was a fittingly grand setting to reflect on everything they’ve achieved. Each student received a certificate marking their completion of the course, while their College Mentors added a light-hearted twist by presenting humorous award certificates—an affectionate way to recognise the unique personalities and contributions of each student.
After the dinner, the evening continued with a disco, where students danced, laughed, and made the most of their final hours together. The energy was high, but there was also a sense of appreciation—for the new friendships, the personal growth, and the chance to be part of such a vibrant, international community.
Across these final days, what stood out most was how students supported each other. Whether applauding during Time To Shine, encouraging peers during the Talent Showcase, or sharing a last laugh on the dance floor, the spirit of community remained strong. These final moments captured the heart of the SBC experience: learning, connection, and the confidence to share who you are.
With the course now complete, students leave not only with certificates and projects but with stronger voices, new perspectives, and friends from around the world. Oxford has been their home for these past weeks—and they’ve truly made the most of it.
