Over the past two days, the mood at Eton has remained upbeat and relaxed. The students have continued to settle in well, forming strong connections with their peers and embracing the experience with enthusiasm. The weather has been characteristically summery, with the occasional heat and humidity adding a touch of realism to our outdoor adventures—thankfully, it hasn’t slowed anyone down. In fact, students have often remarked how much they enjoyed the warm conditions while exploring new surroundings.
In the classroom, lessons have remained hands-on and engaging. One standout academic activity saw students learning practical problem-solving through water filtration experiments—an opportunity to think critically and apply scientific knowledge in a fun and interactive way. The sessions were full of teamwork and thoughtful discussion, with students actively contributing and demonstrating curiosity about environmental and sustainability issues. These types of practical lessons continue to encourage confidence in learning, particularly when they reflect real-world scenarios.
Off campus, the last couple of days brought some truly memorable experiences. A highlight for many was the visit to Windsor Castle, where students had the chance to walk through historic rooms and corridors, see St George’s Chapel, and experience a setting rich with British history. Despite the high temperatures, they remained full of excitement. One student summed it up well by saying it was “really hot and humid but really nice”—a perfect way to describe an authentic British summer day spent exploring centuries of royal tradition.
On Friday, the group headed into London for a day packed with contrasting sights. The visit to the London Dungeons provided a thrilling and theatrical glimpse into the city’s darker past, filled with laughter and a few well-timed scares. Afterwards, students enjoyed the lively atmosphere of Covent Garden, where street performers, unique shops, and a buzzing crowd gave them a taste of modern city life. These excursions continue to offer a balanced cultural and social learning experience, encouraging students to see different sides of the UK.
Back at Eton, wellbeing and social activities have remained a key part of daily life. One particularly popular evening was spent solving puzzles and unravelling clues in a fast-paced escape room activity. This provided a great opportunity for collaboration and friendly competition, and it was lovely to see how naturally students worked together, drawing on each other’s strengths to reach a common goal.
As the week comes to a close, it’s clear that students at Eton are thriving in every sense. They’ve had the chance to learn in innovative ways, explore world-famous landmarks, and grow closer as a group. With more exciting days still to come, the strong sense of community and energy on campus continues to shape a memorable and rewarding summer.
