SUMMER BOARDING COURSES
A Joyful Week Begins at Earlscliffe
As the sun shines over the Earlscliffe campus, we’ve moved seamlessly from heartfelt goodbyes to warm welcomes, all within a weekend brimming with energy and excitement. Friday saw us wave off 69 fantastic students with a prom-themed disco, full of style, music, and moments to remember. Among the evening’s highlights was a surprise early birthday celebration for Hugo, who managed to fit in a bit of cake and cheer before heading home.
No time to pause—Saturday kicked off with purpose as we said hello to 36 new students, bringing with them fresh energy and smiles from across the globe. The campus atmosphere quickly turned into one of shared curiosity and enthusiasm, as returning students made sure everyone felt part of the community from the very beginning.
Sunday took our cool factor to new levels, quite literally, with a trip to the local ice rink. For some, it was a chance to show off hidden skills, for others a brave first go—but laughter was the main event. From there, it was off to Bluewater, Europe’s biggest shopping centre, for a relaxed afternoon. Whether shopping or simply chatting over a coffee, it was a perfect way to settle into new friendships and soak up the weekend buzz.
Returning to campus, we were welcomed back with the comforting smell of a traditional Sunday roast—our kitchen team really knows how to round off a weekend. The evening reached a new high when students gathered together to cheer on England in the Euro final. There was a real sense of camaraderie and shared celebration as we watched the win unfold together.
Monday marked the start of a fresh academic week, and with it, new opportunities for growth. Our students launched into the second half of the Art & Design course, while others jumped into the newly introduced Breaking Digital programme. The Mini MBA saw a new group of young entrepreneurs tackle their first sessions, and Sustainable Futures returned with a sharp focus on environmental care and critical thinking. Meanwhile, our Think Global students began a fresh week of discussion and collaborative learning. Classrooms were alive with ideas, questions, and laughter—there’s no better way to start the week.
Beyond the lessons, students had the chance to enjoy the afternoon sun. A friendly football match kicked off on the grass while basketball bounced into action nearby. Indoors, some students immersed themselves in arts and crafts, making detailed models and enjoying the calm creativity of the session. Our newest arrivals were also introduced to the local area, with a guided tour of Folkestone and The Leas—a great way to get their bearings and start feeling at home.
The evening brought everyone together again for one of our favourite traditions: a beach BBQ. With the sea as our backdrop, we enjoyed smores, good food and the relaxed rhythm of conversation around the fire. It’s these quieter moments that truly show how quickly connections form here—students from different countries and backgrounds laughing together, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
Earlier in the week, our Japanese students shared a special dinner they had prepared themselves—a lovely gesture that brought their house together over a home-cooked meal. In another house, girls made friendship bracelets as keepsakes of the time they’ve spent together. Others opted for a low-key evening of FIFA, board games, and relaxed chats. These little moments—shared food, creativity, and play—make up the heart of life at Earlscliffe.
Looking ahead, tomorrow promises another full day of learning and laughter, with the evening ending in high-energy style at Lazer Tag. With such a thoughtful, joyful group of students, there’s a real sense that every day is one to look forward to.
This past few days have been a wonderful reminder of how quickly a group can come together, supporting one another through goodbyes and new beginnings alike. From classrooms to beach BBQs, there’s a shared rhythm building again—and it’s one full of optimism, curiosity, and kindness.
